This satellite campus provides course work for the first two years of post-secondary education and is master planned to include a location for a future charter high school. Phase one of the Davis Center spans 22,000 square feet and includes a learning resource center, computer labs, classrooms, and administrative and student services spaces. Future phases will include additional classroom space, a bookstore and laboratory spaces. Residential living, dining, and civic amenities included in the West Village master plan round out the Davis Center campus experience.
Greg Secor, project architect of SKW comments “The sustainable focus of the design strategies for the Davis Center became a catalyst to create large open interior spaces that capitalize on indirect northern light which is ideal for illuminating the vocational arts classrooms. Large volume spaces are expressed on the exterior of the building and also signify points of entry into the building that become a link between indoor and outdoor public spaces.”
In addition to high-tech, sustainable spaces and flexibility for future programs, the Davis Center is designed to LEED Silver certification standards.
