Located adjacent to one of the busiest intersections in the Sacramento area, the UV is a reimagining of what a retail center can offer its surrounding communities. Stafford King Wiese provided a full redesign of the buildings’ facade and courtyard. The previous iteration (named University Village) suffered from a disjointed atmosphere; many guests were entirely unaware that a courtyard even existed. Owners, Merlone Geier, envisioned a cosmetic overhaul alongside amenity improvements (such as fire pits and ample seating in the courtyard) that will encourage relaxation and community among shoppers. Managing director Greg Geersten believes the UV will even become a lifestyle center, adding that, “We’ve really designed a place to kind of go to hang out.”
With 85,000 sq. ft. total space anchored by a full-service Safeway grocery store, a plethora of dining and retail options surround the redesigned courtyard. Bandera, Tokyo Fro, Capitol Beer & Taproom, Buckhorn Grove, Pieology, Jimmy John’s, Menchi’s, Zocalo, and Edge Yoga Studios are among the tenants that guests can expect when visiting.
